EFFECTIVE LEARNING CURRICULUM

The Working Mind consists of four interactive modules, incorporating videos, case studies, and practical exercises to create an engaging and impactful learning experience.

Module 1 -

Mental Health Stigma

Examine concepts of mental health and discuss the impacts of stigma on individuals living with mental health or substance use problems.

Module 2 -
Mental Health Continuum

Learn how to use this practical Tool to notice changes in mental health and well-being of yourself and others. Then leave feeling more confident havn conversations with others about mental health.

Module 3 -

Stress & Resilience

Explore the impacts of stress on mental health, and practice applying the Big 4 Coping Strategies- simple but proven tools to deal with stress effectively and remain resilient.

Module 4 -

Supporting Your Team

(Manager Course Only)

Practice skills to support team’s mental health and well-being. Review appropriate actions to take in each colour zone of the Mental Health Continuum and to address related to critical incidents and supporting employees.

THE TOOL


The Working Mind (TWM) utilizes the Mental Health Continuum, a dynamic model that illustrates mental health as a fluid spectrum—ranging from healthy and adaptive to severe distress.

This framework emphasizes that mental health can change over time and highlights the potential for movement in either direction.

OUR APPROACH

We offer regularly scheduled virtual and in person courses for individuals to participate in either TWM Employee or TWM Manager.

- TWM Employee: 5 hours, Modules 1, 2, and 3. Available as an extended half-day session or two 2.5-hr sessions.

- TWM Managers: 8 hours, Modules 1-4. Available as a full-day session or two half-day sessions.

For organizations, we provide flexible scheduling and delivery methods tailored to your specific needs.

- Virtual training for groups of 8-15 participants

- In person for groups of 8-25 participants.

For maximum impact on workplace culture, organizations are encouraged to offer both the Employee and Manager courses.

Who is this course designed for?

TWM is designed for employees, managers, and organizations looking to create a psychologically healthy workplace. There are separate courses for employees and managers to address their unique roles in supporting mental health.

Is this course only for workplace settings?

While the primary focus of TWM is workplace mental health, the skills and knowledge gained can be applied in personal life as well.

There is also a Sport adaptation targeted to Athletes and Coaches that strives to improve the culture of mental health in sport.

Are the any prerequisites for this course?

No, there are no prerequisites—anyone can participate.

Can I take this course if I am outside of Canada?

Yes! As long as you have access to Microsoft Teams you can participate in these courses. When registering, be sure to review the time zones.

Do participants receive a certificate upon completion?

Yes, participants receive a certificate from the Mental Health Commission of Canada upon successful completion.
